When buying rugs, you often just think about area rugs for your living, dining or bedroom. Your hallways can be overlooked but they need rugs too! Runners not only reduce the sound when walking down a hallway but add warmth and character to your otherwise dull hall.
Rugs play a big role in decorating as that your eyes often go directly to the floor when entering a room. Same follows for hallways, if not more so. You have options when finding the perfect runner and it all comes down to preference when making the final decision. You can break up the area with multiple 6' and 8' runners or find one that runs the entire length. The only rule is that you have to love it.
Runners are not just for hallways either. In a kitchen, by an island or sink, a small runner works wonderfully. Give your feet something comfortable to stand on while you're making dinner for your significant other while they're doing the dishes. Bathrooms and mud/laundry rooms are also great candidates for runners. Never underestimate the potential to decorate a small area
